How to write lowercase l in cursive

To form a lowercase letter l, start your pen stroke just beneath the midline of the paper. Draw the line up to the top line, then make a loop to the right side of the letter, extending it to the bottom line. Finish the letter by adding a small tail at the end of the initial stroke, connecting it to other letters in the word.

How to write cursive capital L

For capital letter L, begin slightly below the top line and on the left side. Curve the pen upwards to reach the top line, then make a loop before bringing the stroke back down to the bottom line and making a small loop on the right side of the letter. Finally, draw the tail of the letter to the right, either to finish the letter or to connect it to the following one.

Summary

Mastering the cursive capital L is more challenging than the lowercase l, which is similar to multiple other cursive letters, such as the capital I. When writing the letter l in cursive, you can practice connecting it to other letters, such as the e in words like less, lemon, and letters, or the u in words like lush and luxury. These are known as “connectors” and will help you understand how cursive works to form words. With practice, you’ll soon be able to write “le” and “lu” together with ease.
